Outer Banks Taste of the Beach 2014 Announces Live Music Lineup
NAGS HEAD, NC – January 28, 2014: The Outer Banks Restaurant Association announces the appearance of four local favorite bands at the 2014 Taste of the Beach event weekend, March 13-16, 2014.
A rich and diverse local talent pool and a spirited drive to enjoy all things creative make the Outer Banks one of the most unique music scenes anywhere. It’s the idea behind the Outer Banks Restaurant Associations motive for creating the Taste of the Beach…Food, Drink, Fun as they say. Music, and really great live music, is a big part of the Outer Banks and a big part of this four day food festival. They seem to go hand and hand in adding that fun factor Outer Bankers are so good at mastering.
Taste of the Beach 2014 proudly announces its lineup of musicians at several of its more than 70 events over the course of four days. Making their first Taste of the Beach appearance at the Joe Lamb, Jr. Outer Banks BBQ Showdown on Friday, March 14th is Jonny Waters and Company. Jonny and his mates perfect a fun country sound with a strong influence of southern rock, blues, and trop-rock. Hot off the heels of their video release of “Flip-Flop Cowboy”, Jonny Waters and Company will keep your feet tapping with lyrically driven original tunes that provide a perfect match for an afternoon filled with BBQ and friends. Another newcomer to Taste of the Beach, but certainly not to the Outer Banks music scene, is Denny Blue and The Shakers. They will be performing at the Shure Foods Succulent Crab Kickoff Party at the Outer Banks Brewing Station, on Thursday, March 13th. This free party serves as an annual moniker to let the fun begin. Denny and his Shakers will perform pure rock favorites with a little soul and roots rock jam sprinkled in. Lively, fun and captivating and the epitome of cool, Denny’s performances are heartfelt and beloved by Outer Banks locals and visitors alike each summer. To listen to some of their music click here.
The 7th Annual OBX Chowder Cookoff on Saturday, March 15th at Coastal Provisions Oyster Bar and Wine Café, will host the sounds of Ask Fester, a local band revealing influences of The Grateful Dead, Phish, Eric Clapton, and The Avett Brothers, to name a few. Comprised of true Outer Bankers, Ask Fester is a popular local band making many appearances throughout the busy summer months. To hear some samples from Ask Fester click here.
For a more intimate musical experience, enjoy a multi-course French cuisine candlelit dinner at Café Lachine. A French Kiss celebrates the influences of fine French food and pairs it with a baby grand piano performance from Matt Fleckenstein. “Fleck” as he is known is back for his second annual appearance at this event playing lighthearted jazz along with romantic soft selections to compliment to mood. (Tickets are very limited but has early and late seating sessions both Friday and Saturday nights to accommodate.)
Sweet Jazz at Cravings in Duck will pair delectable desserts and sweet offerings along with live Jazz music on Friday night. It’s a late night event starting at 10pm and running til 1 am.
A brand new event, The Blue Point Bluegrass BBQ on Thursday March 13th, will serve NC craft beers and wines, BBQ, slaw and roasted oysters all amidst the backdrop of a performance by Nu-Blu. The group brings its lively and entertaining version of Americana-Bluegrass music to audiences across the nation year-round. Their sound acknowledges original bluegrass pioneers like Earl Scruggs, Jimmy Martin and Lester Flatt to rock bands of the 1980’s and modern contemporaries such as Allison Krauss and Union Station.
